Talking about reproductive justice and rights has always been important, but messaging around abortion and elections can have compliance implications for 501(c)(3)s. Nonprofits can be bold and actively communicate with the public, candidates, and government officials on the topic of abortion—including during election season. But it is important to know when talking about abortion, or reproductive rights, and voting might have compliance risks.
